11/13/12We are thrilled to announce the release of our inaugural project: It’s Out There Waiting, a beautiful song that celebrates the collaboration of a local nonprofit, a Grammy award winning producer, and a handful of award-winning artists. The single, inspired by patients at the Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers, is now available on iTunes. All proceeds will go to Purple Songs Can Fly, an organization that co-created the song and provides a musical outlet for young patients. https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/its-out-there-waiting-feat./id571241651

11/13/12During the making of It’s Out There Waiting, GRAMMY -winning producer Andres Levin and an all-star cast of musicians were inspired by the experiences of the young patients from Purple Songs Can Fly. They all met for the first time at our studio and together they were able to create a beautiful song full of hope.  http://youtu.be/nskQRmnv8kM

Services

Cut a commercial. Cut a music video. Cut a record. It’s all cutting edge at ZapBoomBang. We are the one-stop, end-to-end, state-of-the-art resource for all your video and audio production needs.

We have five video suites, fully equipped with the latest and finest editing and post-production software and hardware. Or, if you want to make your musical concepts fly from your mind’s eye into reality, we offer two incredible studios with the tools, equipment and ambiance that make any other recording studio pale in comparison.
Both studios have soundlocks and performance spaces. One nicely accommodates a small orchestra. While the other is perfect for capturing the most personal musical performance.

Whether you are creating and performing music or posting your filmwork, ZapBoomBang provides an environment of absolute comfort, beauty and productivity.

As Aretha Franklin said, “What you want, baby, I got it!

Equipment

All studios are designed with maximum flexibility in mind. Audio and video systems are completely discrete. All systems are 100% compatible and full connectivity is available for easy sharing of media and assets.

The control rooms are acoustically similar. This means there will be no change in the sound if you decide to switch to a different room to continue your project or take advantage of the live rooms.

All ProTools sytems are HD3 with ample I/O running on the latest Mac Pros with large memory and vast storage space.

All video editing is performed pulling media from a 40 GB SAN, allowing multiple editors to work with the same footage.

Ocean’s Studio

Playing off Ocean's 11 and inspired by the greatness of the Rat Pack, this bright, spacious, acoustically spectacular, one-cool-breeze of a studio is designed to accommodate the most demanding of musical projects – from a small orchestra or a multi-piece band to the most challenging individual performances. Ocean's features a 1922 Steinway Grand Piano in pristine condition, sharp as Dean's tuxedo, and a bright acoustical environment designed to bring every nuance to life.

Flanking the performance space are two soundlocks designed to isolate and capture individual performances, both with visibility to the large performance space and the control studio. Ol' Blue Eyes never had it so good. Yes, Ocean's Studio is very cool, baby. Very cool.

Empire Studio

Empire Studio is inspired by the not-so-understated elegance of the old world. Rich in textures, plush contrast and regal colors. While Empire is beautiful, it's also absolutely functional. Everything serves a purpose – a sound purpose, indeed.

With enough space for a quartet, string or horn section and an adjacent soundlock, Empire is a magnificently efficient and comfortable workspace. And, with a control room with the exact same sound specifications as that of Ocean's Studio, producers and engineers can toggle sessions from Empire to Ocean's seamlessly. An inspiring space fit for a king – the likes of B.B. King, for example.

Smokin’ Studio

That's what your level of creativity will be doing in Smokin' Studio. It's perfect for stereo mixing, composing, surround or stereo sound effects cutting, or a very comfortable edit and finishing suite. Systems are discrete with ProTools, Final Cut Pro, and Autodesk Smoke. This is where the online and heavy compositing, motion graphics or animation happens.

Lonely Hearts Studio

A tribute to the Fab Four, this studio is great for audio and video editing, motion graphics or composing. It's fabulously equipped with ProTools, Final Cut Pro, and Avid Media Composer. All in discrete systems so no resources are taken away from your current task. How would you use it? It all depends on your needs. Your project is going to be great – with a little help from your friends at ZapBoomBang.

Meet the ZBB Staff

Different strokes for different folks: The ZapBoomBang gang are into different things, but they do all have one thing in common – a love of the merger of pictures and sound and a passion for the beauty and power of music. They don’t just rock. They don’t just roll. They ZapBoomBang.

Please click on the names to the right to see individual bios.

Vibe Studio

Identical to Lonely Hearts, although it gives off a less mod and slightly more tenor sax vibe, this studio is great for audio and video editing, motion graphics or composing. The suite is equipped with ProTools, Final Cut Pro, and Avid Media Composer. All in discrete systems so no resources are taken away from your current task. How would you use it? Again, it all depends on your needs and what kind of "good, good, good vibrations" you're going for.

Meet The Editors

Editing is a skill that requires both technical and creative talent. Our editors have an added edge, they are just plain likable and make the work fun. We look forward to matching your creative with the right editor. If you do not see exactly what you need in our reels, please let us know, there are many more spots which are not posted here and we can customize a reel to match the style required for your boards!

Agustin Rexach

Agustin RexachAs a freelance editor based in Los Angeles, Agustín is thrilled to lend his creative talents to ZBB on a project to project basis. He is, after all, a former Texas resident and proudly says he left his heart in the Lone Star State.

Agustin was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico. His mother instilled in him a deep love for film. She was always shooting footage with her Super 8 film camera and had a great eye for composition. First exposed to the power of film editing by his older brother, Agustin discovered what would be his life's career.

His professional editing career began after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcasting and Film from Boston University. He joined the team at Lux Digital Group in San Juan, Puerto Rico where he spent two great years with the opportunity to cut television commercials for some of the country's leading ad agencies.

Agustin moved to Miami, Florida where he continued his editing career at BVI (now New Art Miami). He made inroads into the Florida independent film community. In 2000 and cut his first independent feature. Since that time he has combined long format projects with television commercial work.

After eight years in Miami, Agustin was offered a job at 1080 in San Antonio, Texas. He accepted the position of creative editor and worked with the company from 2004 to 2009. In 2010 he moved to Los Angeles, California where he edited for Beast editorial. Agustin's love of his work shows "… I love editing and I love editors. It’s a very noble profession".

David Cochran

David CochranDavid attributes his whitening hair to the 20-plus years he’s been in the advertising industry, first as an assistant cameraman, and later as an editor and video compositor. Over that time he’s had the opportunity to work on music videos with Ricky Martin, Celia Cruz and Carlos Ponce, among others. He’s also participated in the Puerto Rico Indie Film production, where he edited various made-for-TV movies, documentaries and a mini-series. David has edited numerous commercials for the general and Hispanic market for such clients as Miller Lite, Coors Light, Heineken, Ford, Chrysler, Bacardi, Budweiser, Sprint, AT&T and Banco Popular de PR. Edmundo Gomez

Recordist, Sound Designer, Mixer

Class clown, recording engineer extraordinaire (just ask his mom), hardcore Star Wars and futbol fan, Edmundo caught the audio recording bug in the early ‘90s while getting his degree in communications. Thirteen years later, after paying his dues at a number of L.A. studios, he found himself recording the Munich symphonic orchestra. Edmundo has been nominated for the Latin Grammy twice, and Paul McCartney waved to him once. Commercially, he’s recorded and mixed countless TV and radio spots for clients such as Verizon, Toyota, Coca-Cola, Ford, T-Mobile and Sears.

Jason Colunga

Studio Operations Technician

As a graduate from the Valenti School of Communication (University of Houston), Jason has since taken his expertise to various leading production and post houses across the Houston area including: Locke Bryan Productions and VT2 Studios, as well as, programming and scheduling content at HoustonPBS. Vanessa Cardona & Diego Arrieta

VANESSA CARDONA
- Studio Services Coordinator

Vanessa studied Biology at the University of Texas San Antonio but about a year ago found herself working for Zapboombang. She's quite thankful for this unexpected opportunity because it has opened her eyes to a whole new world she never knew existed. Now her world doesn't just consist of dogs and cats but also editors and producers. Nevertheless she is completely enthralled by the crazy fast paced world of post production. Vanessa is the caretaker of all who walk through the doors of ZBB and assists with scheduling and the editors daily work flow. She is a firm believer of contagious laughter therefore you can't quite catch her without a big smile.

DIEGO ARRIETA
- Studio Runner

Diego is an aspiring audio engineer/ editor in training. In addition to post production, Diego is an extreme music lover and can play the heck out of a guitar. He is currently in college and just has one more year to graduate. Diego assists everyone at ZBB with IT, data, specs and video requests and makes a mean cup of coffee! We are happy and lucky to have him as part of our ZBB family.
